Khokan Kumar Saha

Mr. Saha is an Associate professor in the Department of Agricultural Engineering at Bangabandhu Sheikh  Mujibur  Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU). He joined this university as an assistant professor in 2016 and has been serving as a faculty member since joining this university. He joined as a lecturer at Sylhet Agricultural University in 2013. He was an assistant professor at Sylhet Agricultural University before taking up the position of a faculty member here. He is also a member of the departmental Board of Studies(BOS) at BSMRAU.

His research focuses primarily on machine vision techniques in agriculture and nondestructive methods to evaluate agri-products and food quality. He is interested in quality evaluation of agricultural products instead of the traditional way for value-adding purposes by applying image processing technology and spectroscopy methods.

He is currently involved in the grading of Japanese sake (rice wine) rice, using Ultraviolet (UV) to Near-infrared (NIR) transmission imaging. He proposed the chalkiness index based on the opaque thickness of sake rice in this work. He also performed research on fruit quality using digital image processing techniques.
